Back! On track!

Yeah, I'm no AC/DC. Oh well. We're back to our semi-regular schedule here at Zack HQ. I don't really have an excuse, save for being busy. Also, I'm flying to Utah Saturday morning, some 2000 miles, and I'll be living there for some two months. So no update Thursday as I'll be packing and the like. I can't forsee anything preventing a timely Monday update. I'll have plenty of airport time, after all.

Comic o' the Day: Super Mario Adventures

Way back in the day, Nintendo Power was a pretty awesome magazine. It still is, really. Or at least it was a couple of years ago, the last time I read it. I rather like its focus on game guides and hints and tips. I'm getting sidetracked. Anyway, back in the day, Nintendo Power was host to comics about many of Nintendo's all-star characters. Mario and Zelda, of course, but also Star Fox and Samus Aran. Super Mario Adventures is a collection of these delightful comics, later reprinted as a graphic novel. First, the artwork. The art was, well, nothing short of adorable. It had this perfect balance between cartooney and manga, so that it looks quite natural to readers on either side of the Pacific. And the coloring! Were I to start coloring Salami, I'd want it to be like SMA.
The story itself is now-typical Mario stuff, but it has a sense of humor highly reminiscent of Super Mario RPG. It establishes and sticks to its own funky continuity while referencing established Mario fact, also much like SMRPG. It's a pretty light-hearted romp, but that's really only to be expected from Mario.
So, if you're a fan of comics and Mario, Super Mario RPG in particular, I highly recommend a copy of Super Mario Adventures. I dunno where to start looking, though. My copy was a gift about a decade ago. Good luck!
